This beautiful and decorative wall plaque is inspired by carvings found upon a tomb in the Reilig Odhráin, an ancient cemetery on the island of Iona. The ship is the galley of Ailean nan Sop of the clan MacLean, said to be the last Viking pirate in Scotland.
These galleys were known as birlinn and were crafted with flat hulls and a single sail. The dragon head on the prow were said to offer protection from sea monsters and bad weather, while also invoking fear in all those who spied the fearsome beast.
Handmade in stone-effect resin and hand aged, the large wall plaque will create beauty and mystery wherever it finds its home.
