This genuine and original engraving is by Samuel Lacey, a professional architectural and landscape engraver. The style is after W.H. Bartlett, originally produced for the part-work ‘History and Topography of Essex’, published 1831 onwards. Lacey’s name appears in connection with many of the great series of steel plate views so popular in early Victorian England.
This high quality steel line engraving on paper with later hand colouring is set in ivory mounts in an Arts & Crafts style wooden frame.
